Flyers Begin Week-Long Events for Playoffs
Philadelphia, Pa. - April 9, 2011 - The Philadelphia Flyers will "Flyer Up" the Greater Philadelphia Region with a week-long series of events in anticipation of the 2012 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs, which begin on Wednesday, April 11, when the Flyers play the Pittsburgh Penguins in Game One of the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals.

Flyers fans are encouraged to create their own posters and bring them to the team’s practice facility, Virtua Center Flyers Skate Zone (601 Laurel Oak Road, Voorhees, NJ). The posters will be placed around the ice to Flyer Up the team and wish them luck against the Penguins.

Monday, Apr. 9 at 12:30 p.m.
NHL's Playoff Logo Placed at Center Ice - Wells Fargo Center (3601 South Broad Street, Philadelphia, PA)
Comcast-Spectacor ice crew will place the finishing touches of the NHL's Playoff logo on center ice in preparation for home playoff games.

Tuesday, Apr. 10 from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m.
Upper Cuts Barber Shop Offers FREE Shaves for Fans Participating in Beard-A-Thon (3471 Ainslie Street, Philadelphia, PA 19129)
Beard-A-Thon is an opportunity for fans to grow their own playoff beard and raise money through charity pledges for Comcast-Spectacor Charities. Fans can log on to www.PhiladelphiaFlyers.com/beard to create their own personal page or to make a pledge for a player. All fans participating in this season’s Beard-A-Thon are encouraged to stop by Upper Cuts Barber Shop for a FREE shave to begin one of hockey’s oldest traditions.

Wednesday, Apr. 11 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m.
Flyers “Fight For The Cup” Caravan and Pep Rally – Begins at Wells Fargo Center (3601 South Broad Street) and Concludes at Comcast Center (1701 JFK Blvd, Philadelphia, PA)
The Flyers “Fight For The Cup” Caravan begins at the Wells Fargo Center at 11 a.m. and continues north on Broad Street into Center City, wraps around City Hall and ends with a Pep Rally at the Comcast Center.  Fans will receive FREE T-shirts, Flyers bandanas courtesy of Wells Fargo and cheer cards outside of the Comcast Center at lunchtime. Flyers Alumnus Bob "Hound" Kelly, In-Arena Host Shawny Hill and Flyers Ice Girls will be on hand to Flyer Up the crowd.

Flyers fans are encouraged to watch Road Game One at XFINITY Live! Philadelphia. Live music, drink and food specials start at 4 p.m.

Thursday, Apr. 12 at 2 p.m.
Students Create Flyers Rally Towels at Francis Scott Key Elementary School (2230 South 8th St, Philadelphia, PA)
Over 100 students will create their own Flyers Rally Towels and participate in  “Let’s Go Flyers” chants as Flyers Ambassador of Hockey Bob “Hound” Kelly puts on a special Flyers School Assembly program aimed at getting students “Flyer’d Up” for the playoffs.

Friday, Apr. 13 at from 12 p.m. until 1 p.m.
McDonald’s Offers 68 Cent “Jagr Smoothies” at Locations Throughout Philadelphia Region
McDonald’s locations throughout the Philadelphia region will get “Flyer’d Up” by offering 68 cent “Jagr Smoothies” during lunchtime. Flyers Alumni, Ice Girls and Fun Patrol will be at various participating locations to distribute T-shirts and cheer cards to McDonald’s customers.

Flyers fans are encouraged to watch Road Game Two at XFINITY Live! Philadelphia. Live music, drink and food specials start at 4 p.m.

Sunday, Apr. 15 at 3 p.m.
The Philadelphia Flyers will host the Pittsburgh Penguins in Game Three of the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals at the Wells Fargo Center. As the Flyers battle the Penguins on the ice, the afternoon will carry a military theme as the Flyers will honor 100 military men and women for their service to the United States Army. All fans in attendance will receive a Flyers Bandana courtesy of Wells Fargo and a Flyers Playoff T-shirt.
