1. FACED WITH A COMEBACK
The Flyers were once again faced with a deficit to fight back from, and once again they nearly did. The Flyers received a pretty give-and-go goal from Wayne Simmonds that was helped set up by Brayden Schenn to cut the lead in half early in the second. Towards the end of the second frame defenseman Kimmo Timonen flung a pass from the right circle that rookie Matt Read dove to knock in his 22nd goal of the year and tied the game back up at 2-2.

2. CAME OUT FIRING
Despite the Lightning gaining a 2-0 lead, the Flyers came out ready to play. They did not allow a shot on goal until the 11:52 mark of the first period, outshooting the Lightning 5-1 in the process. The only problem was that the first shot on goal from the Lightning got past Ilya Bryzgalov to give the Lightning a 1-0 lead.

3. HEARTBREAKER AT 19:59
After the Flyers bounced back from a shorthanded goal that turned the tide to the Lightning's favor, it looked like they were going to escape the period being down by one goal. Unfortunately an interference call on Danny Briere with just over five seconds in the period gave the Lightning an opportune face off in the offensive zone. With time trickling down, the NHL's leading scorer, Steven Stamkos fired a shot from the point that just beat Bryzgalov and the clock to give Tampa a 2-0 lead.

4. SHOTS DON'T TELL THE STORY
The Flyers out-shot the Lightning by a 38 to 15 margin in tonight's game. The Flyers allowed fewer than eight shots to Tampa in each period, including the second period in which they allowed just two shots on net. The Flyers on the other hand had 10 or more shots in each period.

5. IN CONCLUSION
The Flyers wrapped up their season-high, five-game homestand tonight, going 3-2-0 in the process… Ilya Bryzgalov started all five games, allowed two goals or less in four of the contests… Three of the five games were decided by one goal, while two of those went past regulation play.
The Flyers had 81 attempts on net tonight – 38 shots on goal, 25 that were blocked, and 18 that missed.  Tampa had 29 attempts – 15 on goal, seven blocked and seven missed.

Kimmo Timonen recorded his 400th career assist tonight.

Steven Stamkos’s power play goal was just the fourth against the Flyers in the last 15 games.

Scott Hartnell once again took possession of the league lead in power play goals with his 16th goal of the season, putting him one ahead of Pittsburgh’s James Neal.

With 36 goals on the year, Hartnell is now tied for fourth in goals with Phil Kessel and Alex Ovechkin.

The five goals against were the most the Flyers have allowed in a game since a 6-4 loss at Pittsburgh on February 18, ending a stretch of 17 games where they’d allowed four goals or fewer.

The Flyers have recorded at least one power-play goal in four of their last six games.

The Flyers finished the season series against the Lightning with a 1-2-1 record.

Scott Hartnell
Scott Hartnell gets tonight's star of the game for the Flyers.

Hartnell recorded the third Flyers goal on the night, which helped them get to within one goal and have a fighting chance.

Hartnell also posted five shots on net on nearly 20 minutes of ice time.

"I thought we played very well.  We got pucks deep and we battled down low and we had a lot of opportunities.  I give credit to their defense and their goalie for playing well around the net.  Unfortunately, we didn’t come of it with the win and we have to learn from this.”
- Matt Read

"I'd have to watch the replay but I don't think I want to… so it's kind of a give and go with Kimmo and I lost handle of it and it popped out in the front and Bryz didn't see it.  It's just one of those things where I think the sooner I put it behind me the better off I'll be. Obviously it's gut wrenching to have that happen and I just want to apologize to my teammates and all the fans and everybody that paid a ticket to come to the game tonight."
- Matt Carle
Tonight's turning point came on a critical turnover in the Flyers end.

Trailing by a goal with just under three minutes to go in the game, defenseman Matt Carle attempted a breakout pass behind the net that caught the edge of the post instead and popped out to a wide open JT Wyman, who knocked it in.

The goal gave the Lightning a two-goal advantage and would seal the victory.
PIC OF THE NIGHT: Flyers head coach Peter Laviolette calls a timeout in the Flyers-Lightning game.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Martin St. Louis scored the go-ahead goal early in the third period, Steven Stamkos notched his team-record 53rd goal and the Tampa Bay Lightning beat the Philadelphia Flyers 5-3 on Monday night.

Ryan Malone and J.T. Wyman also had goals to help the Lightning win their third straight game. It's a little too late for Tampa, which is 11th in the Eastern Conference and seven points out of a playoff spot with seven games remaining.
