ALL BRYZ-NESS... AGAIN
Ilya Bryzgalov was hearing the chants. Bryz! Bryz! Bryz!

Partly because he had just made more than a few great saves to keep the Panthers off the board.

Partly because by the game's final buzzer he stopped all 28 shots he faced for yet another shutout.

But mostly because that shutout was his second in less than a week's span, third in just over a month and fourth of the season.

What's clear is that Bryz is dialed in, and has been for a while.

"He seems pretty locked in right now.  He’s preparing, he’s going out there, he’s executing, and then he gets ready for the next one," said Flyers head coach Peter Laviolette.

"It’s more mechanical now, not his game or anything, just what he’s doing.  He’s dialed in from day to day.  He works hard in practice, he gets ready for the game, he goes out and does what he has to do and focuses on the next day when it comes.”

Bryzgalov now has a 1.25 GAA and a .960 save percentage during the Flyers’ current four-game winning streak.

Tonight's game was his 10th start in-a-row, which is the the longest starting streak since Sergei Bobrovsky started 12 games in-a-row last season.
The Flyers finished the night with an 18-6 advantage in blocked shots.

Brandon Manning became the 12th rookie to play for the Flyers this season and the seventh to make his regular-season NHL debut.

Matt Read’s goal was his 19th of the season, moving him past Gabriel Landeskog for the league lead in goals scored among rookies.

The Flyers received three of their five goals from rookies.  They now have 49 goals scored by rookies this season, which is 22.7 percent of the team’s total of 216.

Claude Giroux recorded his 23rd multi-point game of the season.  He has 55 assists on the season, jumping him two past Henrik Sedin for the league lead.

Ilya Bryzgalov
For the second time in a week Ilya Bryzgalov gets tonight's Flyers star.

And for the second time in a week, Bryz shut the door for yet another shutout, his fourth of the season and 27th of his NHL career.

Bryzgalov recorded 28 saves in total including several scoring chances on two power-plays with under 10 minutes to go in the game to preserve the victory.

"Yeah I think so. I think I got most out this morning. The guys were great helping me get dressed. I actually got in a game with Lils this year in Adirondack so that helped."
- Brandon Manning

"I think a lot of things are coming together on the ice. Even though we've had some injuries and stuff, it seems like we're playing tighter defensively, not doing too many fancy plays and we're scoring some goals as well."
- Scott Hartnell
Tonight's turning point came eight minutes into the opening period when Florida was threatening to take the opening goal. Ilya Bryzgalov stopped a wide open Shawn Matthias who was in all alone and stopped two prime scoring opportunities.

Just two minutes later the Flyers were awarded a power play where Brayden Schenn gave them a 1-0 lead.

From there the Flyers would add four more tallies, but the saves by Bryz and Schenn's goal would be all that the Flyers needed to grab another two points and a fourth straight win.
PIC OF THE NIGHT: Ilya Bryzgalov dives to make a save on Stephen Weiss.

Associated Press

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Ilya Bryzgalov made 28 saves to record his second shutout in three games and the Philadelphia Flyers beat the Florida Panthers 5-0 on Thursday night for their fourth straight win.

Brayden Schenn, Matt Read, Scott Hartnell, Jaromir Jagr and Eric Wellwood scored for the Flyers.

Bryzgalov has finally played like the goalie the Flyers expected when they gave him a $51 million, nine-year contract. After struggling much of the season, he's 7-2 with a 2.10 goals-against average while making 10 straight starts.
