The Philadelphia Flyers announced today that they have acquired 6-4, 258-lb defenseman Pavel Kubina from the Tampa Bay Lightning in exchange for LW Jon Kalinski, a conditional second-round pick previously acquired from the Florida Panthers and a fourth-round pick in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft, according to general manager Paul Holmgren.
 
Kubina, 34 (4-15-77), has recorded three goals and eight assists for 11 points and a plus-1 rating in 52 games for the Lightning this season.  He has recorded 95 hits and 100 blocked shots, which ranked second and third, respectively, on the Lightning roster.
 
Kubina has appeared in 953 NHL games over parts of 14 NHL seasons with Tampa Bay (1997-2006, 2010-12), Toronto (2006-09) and Atlanta (2009-10), recording a total of 110 goals and 272 assists for 382 points along with 1,108 penalty minutes.  He was drafted by Tampa Bay in the seventh round (179th overall) of the 1996 NHL Entry Draft and won a Stanley Cup with the Lightning in 2004.
 
Kalinski, 24 (5-25-87), was selected by the Flyers in the sixth round (152nd overall) of the 2007 NHL Entry Draft.  He had nine goals and three assists for 12 points in 40 games this season for the Flyers’ American Hockey League affiliate, the Adirondack Phantoms.  Kalinski appeared in 22 games for the Flyers from 2008-10, recording a goal and four assists for five points.
