After a successful exhibition weekend in which they outscored their two opponents 13-2, the Flyers Quebec Pee Wee Team entered tournament play on Monday with their confidence level sky-high.  That confidence would serve them well in a 5-2 win against the Oakville (Ont.) Rangers at Colisee Pepsi.

Oakville scored the game’s first goal in the opening minutes, but Peter White knotted it with an unassisted shorthanded tally with 3:15 left in the first.

Oakville regained the lead in the 2nd period, but the Flyers maintained control of the game.  With 4:24 left in 2nd, Michael Colella tied the game with an unassisted marker.

Less than two minutes later, Evan Barratt buried a Nick Poulianas rebound, and gave Philadelphia its first lead with 2:27 left in the period.

In the closing seconds of the period, with the Flyers Pee Wees on the power play, an Oakville player blocked a shot from the point, and skated in uncontested on goaltender Shane Conlon.  Conlon made a sprawling save to preserve the 3-2 lead as the teams headed to their dressing rooms for the 2nd intermission.

Just two minutes into the third, Clayton Proctor broke down the right wing with speed, and fed Hunter Canestra with a perfect pass in front.  Canestra buried it off the right post and into the net, giving Philadelphia a 4-2 lead.

Peter White added and insurance marker, his second tally of the game, with 59 seconds remaining, and the Flyers emerged with a 5-2 victory.

The next tournament game is a matchup with the New England Jr. Falcons on Wednesday, back at the Colisee.  Before then, Philadelphia will meet Detroit Belle Tire in an exhibition game Tuesday.
