PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Evgeni Nabokov made 40 saves and the New York Islanders snapped a 13-game losing streak in Philadelphia with a 4-1 victory over the Flyers on Thursday night.

Josh Bailey, Matt Moulson, Mark Streit and Michael Grabner scored to help the Islanders also break an eight-game losing streak against Philadelphia, which had won 23 of its previous 24 games against the Islanders.

The victory was the Islanders' third in their last four games, and it marked the first time New York won in Philadelphia since April 7, 2007, a 4-2 victory.

Matt Read scored for Philadelphia.

The Islanders outplayed Philadelphia throughout most of the game, beating the Flyers to loose pucks and using smart passing that created three breakaway opportunities. One came short-handed, when Bailey took a loose puck at mid-ice and came barreling in on goalie Sergei Bobrovsky.

  FULL RECAP
Tonight marked the Islanders’ first win in Philadelphia since April 7, 2007, when they skated away with a 4-2 victory.

Matt Read now leads all NHL rookies in goals scored with 14 on the season.

The Flyers are 3-3 this season when posting 40 or more shots and are 8-8-1 over the last two seasons when doing so.

Giroux’s last fight came almost a year to the day ago, on January 20, 2011 vs. Ottawa (Nick Foglino).  It was the third fight of his NHL career.

With an assist, Sean Couturier stretched his overall point-scoring streak to six games.  He saw his goal-scoring streak snapped at five games.

Harry Zolnierczyk tied for the team lead in hits (4) in 5:01 of ice time.

In addition to their 41 shots on goal, the Flyers had another 39 shots that either were blocked (25) or missed the net (14).

“I don't think for the first two periods we supported each other very well. We left one guy vulnerable. We see that players are in trouble and guys hang in to the offensive side of things or even offensively."
-Peter Laviolette

"It was all about us. We sucked today. Obviously today they were better in every area. They skated better, they learned more. It was one of those games that you didn't want to happen but it happens. It is a long season."
-Kimmo Timonen
Tonight's turning point came on the Islanders power-play seven minutes into the third period.

Isles defenseman Mark Streit came in deep from the point and blasted a shot from the top right circle under the arm of Bobrovsky.

The goal gave the Islanders a three-goal lead with just 12 minutes to play, and despite the Flyers best attempt at a comeback late, the Islanders added an empty-netter for a 4-1 victory.
PIC OF THE NIGHT: Danny Briere's shot trickles just wide on Nabokov in the 2nd period.
