After going an even 2-2-0 on their most recent week-long road trip, the Flyers have returned home, and unlike their past month and a half of action, they’re home for a while.

The Flyers have played 15 of their last 21 games on the road, logging approximately 31 of their last 50 days away from Philadelphia.

What lies next for the Orange and Black are six of their next eight games in the friendly confines of the Wells Fargo Center.

“It seems like the whole month of December we’ve been on the road and to start the New Year,” said Wayne Simmonds. “It’ll be nice to come back home to our fans and get a couple points there.”

Although the Flyers home record isn’t where they want it to be (10-6-2), they have been getting more than their share of points on home ice when they’ve been there.

In their last six games at the Wells Fargo Center (not counting the Winter Classic at Citizens Bank Park) the Flyers are 5-1-0, averaging over three goals per game in the process (3.16).

The Flyers have hardly been slouches on the road. They are currently tied with the Vancouver Canucks for the most road wins in the NHL (16), but are leading the NHL in best winning percentage on the road (.680) compared to Vancouver’s (.635).

In fact, the Flyers have just 16 games left on the road this season leaving 23 games at home.

Beyond that, they will see a lot more of home even with the remaining road schedule as one more week-long road remains for the Flyers; a tour through Western Canada and San Jose midway through February. The remaining trips are likely to be only 2-3 day spans.

Before that trip however, Flyers fans will be pleased to see their team up close with 11 of their next 15 games in Philadelphia.

If seeing their team wasn’t exciting enough, playing heated rivals such as the New York Rangers (Feb. 11), Pittsburgh Penguins (Feb. 18), New Jersey Devils (Feb. 4) and another crack at the defending Stanley Cup Champion Boston Bruins (Jan. 22) are sure to be can’t miss games.
