One of the most popular teams no matter what city they’re playing in, the Flyers made their return to Winnipeg and the sellout crowd of 15,004 was ready to greet them after a 15-year absence.The Jets were as well, taking the game by a final score of 6-4, but the game took shape in the first half. While the second half was all Flyers, it wasn’t enough. The Jets out-shot the Flyers 14-3 midway through the first period and the Flyers managed just 11 shots on net through the game’s first 30 minutes. There were goals that Bobrovsky would have liked back, but the game was by no means on his shoulders alone. He made a great pad save on a two-on-one with 10:07 left in the first on a Jets power play and in the second period stopped a flurry of very good scoring chances from the Jets to put the game out of reach. The Flyers were teased toward the end of the second period. Pressuring and with the puck in the zone, the Flyers squeezed one by Pavelec to bring the Flyers to within two goals, but replay officials determined time had expired 0.2 seconds before the puck entered the net. Eventually the game was put out of reach. Winnipeg put it away with a full two-minute 5-on-3 power-play midway through the second period. Matt Carle was given a holding penalty and on the same delayed call, Danny Briere was assessed a cross-checking penalty. Dustin Byfuglien tallied from a sharp angle to give Winnipeg a 5-1 lead. "It's frustrating. We shot ourselves in the foot for the first half of the game. They were quicker to the puck and more disciplined," said Flyers head coach Peter Laviolette. The second half was a different story. Scott Hartnell added his second of the night and with just under 12 minutes to go in the game, Flyers rookie Matt Read scored a pair of goals to bring the Flyers to within one. It was too little too late as the Jets recorded an empty-netter and earned their second straight victory over the Flyers. |
- The Flyers have been outscored by Winnipeg 6-2 in the first period of the two games between the teams this season. Against all other teams they’ve played, the Flyers are outscoring their opponents 26-10 in the first period. Per the Elias Sports Bureau, Matt Read’s five goals in four games is the best stretch for a Flyers rookie since Mikael Renberg scored five goals in three games from Feb. 15-18, 1994. Scott Hartnell posted his first four-point game since March 8, 2009 vs. Buffalo (also 2G, 2A). It’s his fifth career four-point game and fourth as a Flyer. The Flyers won 14 straight against the Winnipeg franchise from Dec. 28, 2005 through the end of the 2008-09 season. Since the start of the 2009-10 season, the Flyers have lost nine of 10 against the franchise (1-7-2). The Flyers allowed three power play goals tonight, the same number they had allowed in all eight road games combined so far this season. James van Riemsdyk recorded eight shots on goal tonight. Max Talbot tied a career high with five shots in the game. He’s done it six times before, all with Pittsburgh. 
Hartnell factored into three of the Flyers' four goals, posting two goals and an assist for a three-point night. Hartnell kicked off the night of scoring for the Flyers by deflecting a point shot from Chris Pronger to make it a 3-1 game. He later added another goal on the power play midway through the second period. Matt Read scored a pair of goals in the third period for the Flyers with Hartnell getting the assist on his first tally. |

The fifth goal of the game from the Jets turned out to be the difference maker. Dustin Byfuglien's goal midway through second period gave Winnipeg a 5-1 lead that the Flyers tried desperately to, but in the end just couldn't get out of. The goal was the Jets' third on the power play for the evening and came off of an odd angle to sneak past Sergei Bobrovsky. The Flyers would go on to record three consecutive goals to bring the game to within one, but in the end they had to pull the goalie for an extra attacker. The Jets scored immediately on the open net to put the game away. |

 Jets 6, Flyers 4 Associated Press WINNIPEG, Manitoba (AP) - Bryan Little scored twice early in the first period to help the Winnipeg Jets beat the Philadelphia Flyers 6-4 on Saturday. Dustin Byfuglien had a goal and two assists, and Andrew Ladd, Jim Slater and Nik Antropov also scored for Winnipeg. Little, Ladd and Byfuglien had power-play goals, and Slater scored short-handed. Scott Hartnell had two goals and two assists, and Matt Read also scored twice for Philadelphia. The Flyers hadn't lost in regulation time in nine games, and had won three straight.  FULL RECAP |
