MAX TALBOT
Come this fall, newly acquired center Max Talbot will trade in his Black & Gold #25, for Black & Orange #27. And fans will begin to see a player who has the same edge and grit as another famous #27.

However fans won’t have to wait until training camp starts to get to know the other side of Max Talbot by going to his official website: MaxTalbot.com.

“It started with a charity, the Max Talbot Foundation in Pittsburgh, and obviously you need some way to promote it so we started a website for the Foundation,” said Talbot. “With the media and everything going towards social networking in the world, we thought why not. Let’s put something online that it can attract fans.”

The Max Talbot Foundation is devoted to lending a helping hand to children in need.

Although Talbot is the face of the charity and website, he is quick to admit that there are many people behind the scenes that make both a success.

“There’s been someone who’s been helping me for the past four years. Pamela Angell has been helping me build a brand and doing my foundation work too. She’s been like my Mom or my best friend helping me keep everything up to date.”

The 27-year-old from Lemoyne, Quebec appeared in all 82 games for the Penguins last season, posting eight goals and 21 points. He was also the main contributor to the Pens penalty killing unit, averaging nearly three minutes of shorthanded time per game.

His qualities are very similar to another Flyer, according to GM Paul Holmgren.

“He’s a guy who can play left wing, he can play center, he’s a useful guy who can move up and down your lineup,” said Holmgren upon signing Talbot. “You probably called him a [pain] a few times too in Pittsburgh, but now he’s on our team.  He’s got a lot of qualities that Ian Laperriere has.”

While Flyers fans will no doubt get used to Talbot and his hard-nosed play and outgoing personality, they can get all the information they need to on MaxTalbot.com, but all you need to know is in the final paragraph in his auto-biography.

Talbot’s states his most cherished memorable moment is winning the Stanley Cup with the Pittsburgh Penguins in 2009.

Not that surprising. What is surprising though?

He makes no mention that he scored the Stanley Cup game-winning goal.

He makes no mention that he in fact scored BOTH goals in a close 2-1 victory in Game Seven to lead the Penguins to their third Stanley Cup title and first in 17 years.

The only thing he does mention of that moment is being able to share the feeling of winning with teammates, his friends and his family.

That’s who Max Talbot is. And that’s what Max Talbot wants to re-live with his new set of teammates he will meet this fall.

“I’m really excited. It’s a new challenge for me and it’s a big change especially with the rivalry, but at the same time after talking with people I thought [Philadelphia] was the right fit for me so I’m looking forward to it and the new challenge.”
