RFA's Nodl-Sestito Signed

The Philadelphia Flyers announced today that they have signed 6-1, 196-lb right wing Andreas Nodl and 6-5, 228-lb left wing Tom Sestito to contract extensions, according to general manager Paul Holmgren.
 
Nodl, 24 (2-28-87), appeared in 67 games for the Flyers last season.  He recorded 11 goals and 11 assists along with 16 PIM and was the receipient of the Pelle Lindbergh Memorial Trophy, which is given to the player who has most improved from the previous season as voted by his teammates.
 
The 2010-11 campaign was Nodl’s third full season with the Flyers organization.  He has appeared in 115 career NHL games, all with the Flyers, posting 12 goals and 15 assists for 27 points.  He has also appeared in 107 games for the Flyers’ American Hockey League affiliate, the Philadelphia/Adirondack Phantoms, posting 21 goals and 34 assists for 55 points.
 
The Vienna, Austria native was selected by the Flyers in the second round (39th overall pick) in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft.  Prior to starting his professional career, Nodl spent two seasons with the St. Cloud State University Huskies, where he posted 36 goals, 54 assists and 54 PIM in 80 games. In his first season with the Huskies, he set a school record for most points by a freshman with 46 points.
 
Sestito, 23 (9-28-87), was acquired from the Columbus Blue Jackets on February 28 in exchange for C Greg Moore and the rights to C Michael Chaput.  He was assigned to the Flyers’ American Hockey League affiliate, the Adirondack Phantoms, where he appeared in 11 games.  He posted two goals and an assist during that time, along with 45 PIM.
 
Sestito was a third-round selection (85th overall) of the Blue Jackets in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft. The 2010-11 season was his fourth in the Columbus organization.  Prior to the trade, Sestito  spent most of the campaign with the club’s American Hockey League affiliate, the Springfield Falcons, where he posted 11 goals and 21 assists for 32 points in 46 games while racking up 192 penalty minutes.  He also appeared in nine games for the Blue Jackets last season, contributing
two goals and two assists and recording 40 penalty minutes.
 
Sestito has collected 745 penalty minutes in 211 American Hockey League games over his four seasons with the Phantoms, Springfield and Columbus’s previous AHL affiliate, the Syracuse Crunch. His AHL career totals also include 38 goals and 57 assists for 95 points. He has four other NHL games to his credit, all with Columbus – three in 2009-10 and one in 2007-08.
