Flyers Claim Goaltender Leighton

Leighton, 28, has appeared in seven games with the Hurricanes this season, posting a 1-4-0 record with a 4.28 goals-against average and .848 save percentage. In 2008-09, he had a 6-7-2 record with a 2.92 GAA and .901 save percentage in 19 appearances, and his six wins matched his NHL career-high.
This will be Leighton’s second stint with the Flyers, having also appeared in four games during the 2006-07 season, where he posted a 2-2-0 mark, a 3.69 GAA and a .882 save percentage. He was originally claimed on waivers by the Flyers on Jan. 11, 2007.
In parts of six seasons in the NHL with Chicago (2002-03 to 2003-04), Nashville and Philadelphia (2006-07), and Carolina (2007-08 to 2009-10), Leighton has compiled an 18-35-12 record, a 3.10 GAA and .896 save percentage in 76 games.
A native of Petrolia, Ontario, Leighton was originally drafted by the Chicago Blackhawks in the sixth round (165th overall) in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft.
