Briere Suspended Two Games by NHL

The National Hockey League announced on Tuesday that it has suspended Philadelphia Flyers forward Danny Briere for two games for his hit on Colorado’s Scott Hannan during the Flyers-Avalanche game on Monday night at the Pepsi Center.
Flyers general manager Paul Holmgren and Briere issued the following statements regarding the suspension.
Holmgren: “We were informed that Danny Briere was suspended two games by the NHL for his hit last night on Scott Hannan. It’s obviously disappointing to not have Danny in the lineup for the next few games, but it’s a decision that the league has come down with and we’ll live with it. We look forward to having Danny back in the lineup in two games.”
Briere: “I respect the decision. I’ll live with it, and try to move on after the two-game suspension.”
Briere, 32, has 10 goals and six assists for 16 points in 17 games this season. His 10 goals leads the team.
The Flyers will have no further comment regarding the suspension.
