Comcast-Spectacor, owner and operator of the Spectrum, is opening the legendary arena and inviting the public to take one final stroll around the Spectrum on Saturday, October 24, before the final act, Pearl Jam, closes America’s showplace. The “Last Stroll” begins at 10 a.m. and will continue until 1 p.m. and is free and open to the public.

“The Spectrum is a very special place for so many millions of people,” said Comcast-Spectacor Chairman Ed Snider. “We know how passionate the residents of the Greater Philadelphia Region are about the Spectrum. We’d like the ‘Last Stroll’ to be an opportunity for everyone who ever attended an event at the Spectrum to return, reflect on the memories, bring their families and remember all of the great times they had at the Spectrum.”

In addition to being able to walk the concourse and to go onto the event floor one last time, fans can also purchase souvenir Spectrum merchandise and enjoy rolled back concession prices - $1 hot dogs and $1 soft drinks.

“This past year has been a wonderful year-long celebration of the Spectrum,” said Comcast-Spectacor President Peter Luukko. “Many fans have asked us for an opportunity to take one more lap or to visit the locker rooms before we close the Spectrum. This event is really our way of saying ‘thank you’ to all of the fans over the past 42 years who helped make the Spectrum such a special place.”

During “The Last Stroll” fans will be able to enter the former locker rooms of the Philadelphia Flyers and 76ers, as well as stand on the Spectrum concert stage. In addition, some of the great Philadelphia Flyers alumni who made the Spectrum such an intimidating place to play hockey will be on hand to meet fans, as well. These former Flyers include Ed Hospodar, Bob Kelly, Joe Watson, Orest Kindrachuck and Dave Schultz.

Comcast-Spectacor will officially close the Spectrum at the end of October with a four-night run from Pearl Jam. These final performances are on Tuesday, October 27, Wednesday, October 28, Friday, October 30, and Saturday, October 31.

At the “Last Stroll,” fans can purchase the complete photographic history of the Spectrum entitled “God Bless the Spectrum” for $24.95 or a commemorative piece of the basketball court for $76 (3-inch by 5-inch piece) or $176 (10-inch by 10-inch). Also, Comcast-Spectacor will be taking orders on Spectrum chairs at the “Last Stroll.” A portion of the proceeds from sales of the court and the seats benefits the Comcast-Spectacor Foundation.

The “Last Stroll” is being presented by SportsRadio 610 WIP who will be broadcasting live from the Spectrum during the event.

Demolition of the Spectrum will make way for Philly Live, a spectacular new retail, restaurant, and entertainment district. Cordish Company, of Baltimore, MD, a world-renowned developer of similar projects throughout North America, is partnering with Comcast-Spectacor in Philly Live.
