Schultz to Join Flyers Hall of Fame

The Philadelphia Flyers have announced that Dave Schultz will become the 20th member of the Flyers organization to be inducted into the Flyers Hall of Fame during an on-ice ceremony prior to the team’s contest vs. the New Jersey Devils at the Wachovia Center on Monday, November 16 at 7:00 p.m. ( Tickets).
 
“Dave Schultz helped define Philadelphia Flyers hockey,” said Comcast-Spectacor Chairman Ed Snider. “He played with a high level of intensity, always proudly defending the orange and black and making it difficult for our opponents. He never backed down and he fought hard every night, wearing his heart on his sleeve. While his temporary home was in the penalty box, we’re glad that he will have a permanent home in the Philadelphia Flyers Hall of Fame.”
 
Schultz appeared in 297 regular season games and 61 Stanley Cup Playoff games during a five-year career with the Flyers (1971-72 through 1975-76) and was a member of the 1974 and 1975 Flyers Stanley Cup Championship teams.
 
He recorded 51 goals and 64 assists for 115 points in the regular season, including 1,386 penalty minutes, which ranks fifth all-time in Flyers history. In 1974-75, Schultz recorded 472 penalty minutes in 76 games with the Flyers to set an NHL record for most penalty minutes in one season. In 61 playoff games with the Flyers, Schultz recorded 16 points (7G,9A) and 363 penalty minutes, which rank first in Flyers history.
          
Highlights of the Schultz Hall of Fame Night include video tributes of his great plays and fights and a look back at his impressive Flyers career accomplishments and statistics.   
 
Schultz will be inducted into the Flyers Hall of Fame and presented with gifts from his former teammates and the Flyers organization. Schultz will address the crowd concluding the ceremony with the unfurling of the Hall of Fame banner with the addition of his name.    
 
All fans attending the game will receive a Schultz poster as they arrive. Fan Gear will also offer autographed commemorative photographs.
 
The Flyers Hall of Fame was established in 1988 to permanently honor those individuals who have contributed to the franchise’s success. The Hall of Fame induction is held, as needed, with candidates nominated and voted upon by a panel of media members and team officials. The following people are members of the Flyers Hall of Fame:
