Comcast SportsNet Expands Hockey Coverage

All Flyers games to be broadcast in high definition

(Philadelphia, PA) – Comcast SportsNet, together with The Comcast Network, usher in the most comprehensive Flyers coverage with 73 high definition game broadcasts, pre and post game shows, the debut of “The Orange Line” weekly magazine show and 24/7 coverage on CSNPhilly.com.  
 
Flyers High Definition Broadcasts
Comcast SportsNet, along with The Comcast Network, will air 73 games in high definition.  Seasoned broadcasters Jim Jackson, Steve Coates, Keith Jones and Bill Clement will bring viewers all the action from the puck drop to the final whistle.  
 
Last season, Flyers games on Comcast SportsNet averaged a 2.4 rating (71,300 households), a 4% increase over 2007-08 and a 60% increase over the 2006-07 season.
 
Season Opener – October 2
The Comcast Network will air “Flyers Pregame Live” at 6:30 p.m. followed by the high definition broadcast of the Flyers taking on the Carolina Hurricanes at 7 p.m. “Flyers Postgame Live” will also air immediately after the game.
 
Flyers Pregame Live
For the first time in the network’s history, Comcast SportsNet will air “Flyers Pregame Live” prior to all Flyers prime time games.  Analysts will talk to the players and coaches, identify crucial matchups, and layout the keys to the game ahead.
 
Flyers Postgame Live
Comcast SportsNet continues to provide fans with the definitive place to go after the game with “Flyers Postgame Live”. Hosted by Michael Barkann, along with Steve Coates, Al Morganti and John Boruk, they will provide insightful analysis, lively debate and player interviews, and coach John Stevens’ press conference.
 
The Orange Line – Debuts October 5
Keith Jones and John Boruk host "The Orange Line", a new magazine style show that dissects the Flyers like never before. Each week, the show will take you inside the locker room as fans get to know the players off the ice, with access you can't get anywhere else. Over the course of the season we'll also take a look back at Flyers history, have tips from the pros and answering viewers’ questions.  “The Orange Line” will air on Comcast SportsNet every Monday at 7 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. beginning on Monday, October 5.

Throughout the season, CSNPhilly.com Flyers Insider Tim Panaccio will cover the team both at home and on the road. Each week, Panaccio will have game previews, post-game recaps, weekly chats, NHL Notebook and his blog, Panotch’s Pucks. 
 
Meet the Flyers
“Meet The Flyers,” presented by Virtua, previews the season ahead for the 2009-10 Flyers. Taped in front of a live studio audience, the one hour special is hosted by Gregg Murphy and Keith Jones, along with Steve Coates. Flyers appearing on the show include: Chris Pronger, Mike Richards, Jeff Carter, Simon Gagne, Ray Emery, Brian Boucher, Riley Cote, Danny Briere, Scott Hartnell and many others. Comcast-Spectacor Chairman Ed Snider, Comcast-Spectacor President Peter Luukko, Flyers General Manager Paul Holmgren, and Head Coach John Stevens are also part of the program.

“Meet The Flyers,” presented by Virtua, airs on Comcast SportsNet Thursday, September 24 at 11 a.m.; Thursday, September 24 at 11 p.m.; Sunday, September 27 at 9 p.m.; Thursday, October 1 at 11 p.m. and Thursday, October 8 at 4 p.m.  The program will also air on The Comcast Network on Tuesday, September 22 at 9:30 p.m.; Tuesday, September 29 at 9:30 p.m.; Monday, October 5 at 10:30 p.m., Wednesday, October 7 at 10 p.m. and Friday, October 9 at 7 p.m. It will also be available on Comcast ON DEMAND beginning on Monday, September 28.
