Preseason Schedule Revealed

Flyers to visit John Labatt Centre in London to face Maple Leafs

The Philadelphia Flyers have revealed their 2009 preseason schedule, which features three games at the Wachovia Center and one contest at the John Labatt Centre in London, Ontario. The seven-game preseason slate opens with the Flyers taking on the defending Western Conference Champion Red Wings at Detroit on Wednesday, September 16 at 7:30 p.m.

For the sixth consecutive season, the Flyers will travel to London, Ontario to play at the John Labatt Centre against the Toronto Maple Leafs on Thursday, September 17. The John Labatt Centre is operated and managed by Global Spectrum, the public assembly facility management subsidiary of Flyers’ parent company, Comcast-Spectacor. The Flyers own an all-time record of 4-1-0 and have outscored their opponents by a 21 to 10 margin in those five contests. In previous years, the Flyers have taken on the New York Islanders (2008; 4-0 W), Ottawa Senators (2007; 4-0 W), Pittsburgh Penguins (2006; 2-1 L), Atlanta Thrashers (2005; 8-6 W) and Washington Capitals (2003; 4-2 W).

The Flyers open training camp at the Virtua Center Flyers Skate Zone in Voorhees, New Jersey on Saturday, September 12. Following the Flyers’ preseason opener at Detroit and their game against Toronto at the John Labatt Centre, Philadelphia will then take on the Maple Leafs at Toronto on Saturday, September 19. On Tuesday, September 22, the Flyers will make their Wachovia Center debut in the preseason by taking on the Detroit Red Wings. Philadelphia will then take on their Atlantic Division rival New Jersey Devils in a home-and-home series which begins on home ice on Thursday, September 24 and concludes at New Jersey on Saturday, September 26. The Flyers preseason finale will see them take on the Minnesota Wild on Tuesday, September 29 at the Wachovia Center.
