Flyers Annual Cancer Awareness Night Set for Oct. 16th at Wachovia Center
Flyers Donate Portion of Proceeds from Ticket Sales to the Sandy Rollman Ovarian Cancer Foundation and Breastcancer.org

The Philadelphia Flyers will host its annual Cancer Awareness Night on Tuesday, October 16 as the Flyers take on the Atlanta Thrashers at 7 p.m. at the Wachovia Center. To raise awareness and show support for the cause, the Philadelphia Flyers will donate a portion of proceeds from ticket sales, 215-218-PUCK, to The Sandy Rollman Ovarian Cancer Foundation and Breastcancer.org.
“This game is an opportunity for the Flyers to make a personal difference in the fight against cancer,” says Senior Vice President for Business Operations Shawn Tilger. “We are proud to host our Cancer Awareness Night as a way to support the initiatives of The Sandy Rollman Ovarian Cancer Foundation and Breastcancer.org.”

The 2007-2008 season marks the NHL’s 10th Anniversary of Hockey Fights Cancer. As an example of the Philadelphia Flyers commitment to this cause, players will wear a pink Hockey Fights Cancer decal on their helmet during all regular-season games in October.
According to Philadelphia Flyers’ Mike Knuble, who has a personal connection with breast cancer, “My mom is a breast cancer survivor and it means a lot to me to be able to encourage others to become educated about this horrible disease.”

Fans will join Lauren Hart, Heather Hatcher, and the Philadelphia Flyers as they recognize Adriana D’Alessandro, as the community teammate for the evening. Adriana is the co-founder of The Sandy Rollman Ovarian Cancer Foundation and has dedicated the past seven years of her life to help conquer the disease. After watching her sister Sandy slowly succumb to ovarian cancer, Adriana, only 21 at the time, decided to start The Sandy Rollman Ovarian Cancer Foundation to honor her sisters memory, as well as educate others about the prevention and early detection of the disease.

All fans wearing pink or teal may enter to win an autographed prize pack from Derien Hatcher or Jason Smith. Fans can also help the Philadelphia Flyers by visiting the Flyers Charities booth behind sections 102/103 and purchase a Flyers Cancer Awareness pin. All proceeds from the sale will go to Flyers Charities which help support women’s health initiatives.
Representatives from breastcancer.org as well as The Sandy Rollman Ovarian Cancer Foundation will be on site to answer any questions.

Individual tickets and game plans for all home games are on sale exclusively through ComcastTIX at PhiladelphiaFlyers.com or calling 215-218-PUCK.

The Sandy Rollman Ovarian Cancer Foundation’s mission is to unite with our community and work together to promote awareness of ovarian cancer by educating both women and physicians about the disease, to advocate for early diagnostic testing and more effective treatments and to raise funds to help advance research towards a cure.
