Fans Help Flyers Set Record Numbers in 2005-06

The support of Philadelphia Flyers fans helped crown Philadelphia as the number one hockey city in the United States by The Sporting News before the 2005-06 season even began. Flyers fans continued to support the team throughout the 2005-06 season, helping to set some impressive numbers this past year.

A record 805,783 fans attended Flyers home games during the 2005-06 regular season, setting an all-time single season home attendance record. The Flyers organization also welcomed its 25-millionth fan, Bill Logan of Langhorne, PA during Saturday, November 5, 2005 game vs. Atlanta Thrashers.

Over 12,905,095 fans logged on to the Philadelphia Flyers website www.philadelphiaflyers.com for the most up-to-date news and information during the 2005-06 season. The Flyers website was the number one visited website amongst National Hockey League websites for the months of December 2005, January 2006, February 2006 and April 2006 and the second most visited website during October 2005, November 2005 and March 2006.

A free sandwich from Chick-fil-A was awarded to every fan in attendance when the Flyers scored four goals or more at a home game during the 2005-06 season, resulting in 372,946 fans enjoying a free sandwich from Chick-fil-A.

New this year, 16,851 fans enjoyed an affordable ticket at $20 for adults and $10 for children in the Lehigh Valley Dairy Farms Family Section for live Flyers action at the Wachovia Center this season.

A 17 percent increase in the number of fans tuning in to Comcast SportsNet and UPN to catch Flyers games from home was recorded this season.

Lastly, 7,045 Flyers jerseys were purchased by fans at the Wachovia Center this season.

"Setting these records and seeing an increase in numbers and interest in the team is a season-ending reward for the organization," said Flyers President, Ron Ryan. "We appreciate our fans support throughout this past season and are looking forward to another exciting season next year."
