A mild groin strain is not expected to keep Peter Forsberg out of the lineup when the Philadelphia Flyers host the New York Islanders.

Forsberg suffered the injury Friday after scoring two goals and adding an assist in the Flyers' 5-3 win over the Boston Bruins.

"It's not serious, but we're not taking any chances," Flyers coach Ken Hitchcock said after the win. "If he feels pretty good, he should be able to play."

Forsberg, a key free-agent acquisition from the Colorado Avalanche, leads the Flyers in assists and points this season. In 14 home games, the five-time All Star center has five goals and 23 assists, leading the Flyers to a 10-2-2 mark at the Wachovia Center.

He has just one assist in two games against New York this season. In 16 career games against the Islanders, Forsberg has six goals and 14 assists, with half his assists coming on the power play.

Linemate Simon Gagne scored his 21st goal, tying him with Jaromir Jagr of the New York Rangers for the league lead. Gagne has 16 goals this season on home ice.

In two games against the Islanders this season, Gagne has taken 16 shots, but has scored just one goal.

Philadelphia is looking for its second straight home win after a three-game losing streak there.

New York fell back to .500 after a 6-2 loss Friday to the Ottawa Senators.

"They outskated and outworked us," said Islanders forward Mark Parrish. "We didn't win the one-on-one battles in front of our net or in front of their net."

Parrish assisted on both New York goals for his first multi-point game since a two-goal effort Oct. 20 against the Rangers.

Alexei Yashin, who scored in the loss to Ottawa, enters this contest on a three-game points streak against Philadelphia, recording a goal and two assists in that span.

The Islanders have lost both games against the Flyers this season and are just 3-8-2 in Philadelphia since Oct. 26. 2002.
