Flyers Food Drive a Success

The Philadelphia Flyers will donate 576 food items to the Food Bank of South Jersey thanks to a successful food drive at the Flyers-Pittsburgh game on Wednesday, November 16. Members of the Boy Scouts of America were at the game collecting non-perishable canned goods from fans as they entered the Wachovia Center.

For each item donated, fans received a raffle ticket to enter to win a Flyers Experience. Kurt Brunner of Aston, PA was the lucky winner and will receive two tickets to an upcoming game including VIP parking, dinner at Victor's Club and a post-game meet and greet. "I'm glad the food is going to a good cause and I am glad I can be part of it," said Brunner.

"The Philadelphia Flyers are very happy to give back to our community and with the help of our fans we knew it would be a success. We would like to thank everyone who contributed and we look forward to our future drives that will help those in need,' said Flyers President Ron Ryan.

The Food Bank of South Jersey is a member of America's Second Harvest® - The Nation's Food Bank NetworkTM and a nonprofit organization whose mission is to help eliminate hunger and malnutrition in the four counties it serves in southern New Jersey - Burlington, Camden, Gloucester and Salem. The Food Bank solicits, collects, and stores food donations in its 45,000 square foot facility in Pennsauken, New Jersey and then provides that same food to more than 220 member-feeding agencies (i.e. soup kitchens, food pantries, shelters) who distribute it directly to the food insecure individuals and families throughout those four counties.
