Flyers Salute Veterans on Saturday, November 12

The Philadelphia Flyers are saluting the Armed Forces with a special tribute to Veterans Day on Saturday, November 12, when they host the Florida Panthers at 7 p.m. All fans in attendance will receive an American flag as they enter the Wachovia Center.

"The Flyers support our troops and are excited to welcome their families to our game so that we can provide a service where families can be connected to their family members serving the US abroad," said Flyers President Ron Ryan. "We hope to provide a memorable night for our fans inviting military families to the game and giving them the opportunity to speak with their relatives live, we feel this will make for a special night."

The McGuire Air Force Base Elite Honor Guard will be accompanying anthemnist Lauren Hart on the red carpet while she performs the National Anthem. Throughout the night, there will be in-arena recognition of veterans and members in the Armed Forces. Carnival Fun will have a table on the Main Concourse across from Section 117 for fans to create greeting cards to troops overseas.

During the past week, troops overseas have sent messages and photographs to the Flyers via Freedom Calls Foundation and the team responded with a video greeting of their own and sent Flyers items to the soldiers. Additionally, former Flyer and current Director of Pro Hockey Personnel, Ron Hextall, recorded a special video message, which will be shown on the Jumbotron at the Wachovia Center during the game on November 12.

The Flyers will also honor Lieutenant Chris Pacentrilli as their Community Teammate on November 12. After graduating the United States Naval Academy on 1998, Chris entered training as a Navy pilot and earned his wings of gold in 2000. Pacentrilli has flown the F-14 Tomcat and the F/A-18 Super Hornet in support of operations in Iraq and Afghanistan. He has flown from the aircraft carriers USS Constellation and USS Abraham Lincoln. Lieutenant Pacentrilli recently graduated as a Navy Top Gun and is now assigned to the Navy Fighter Weapons School at the Naval Air Station Oceana, Virginia.

The Flyers also encouraged fans to send in photos of their friends and loved ones who are currently serving in the United States military. These photos will be shown in-arena during the game and will be posted on the Flyers official website.
