This Date In Flyers History: October 27
2011
It was on this date that the Flyers welcomed back the Winnipeg Jets into the NHL.

And what a first game it was.

The teams recorded 17 goals in total, trading leads six times, each team went a stretch where they recorded five consecutive goals in the game, seven goals scored in the final period alone with Winnipeg coming out on top after a game-winning goal scored with 1:06 left to play in the third period gave them a 9-8 victory.

The 17 goals scored tied an all-time Flyers record for most goals scored in a game and it was the first time in team history that the Flyers recorded eight goals and did not win.

The Jets had 15 players record at least a point in the game, while the Flyers had 13 players find the scoresheet.

1973 & 2003
On this date in Flyers history a pair of shutouts came 30 years apart as Hall of Fame goaltender Bernie Parent recorded the 13th shutout of his career in a 6-0 win at the Spectrum vs. Pittsburgh in 1973. Fast forward to 2003 and Robert Esche blanked the Montreal Canadiens in Philadelphia by stopping all 20 shots in a 5-0 victory.

1981
The Flyers sustained their most decisive loss on the road, losing 11-2 to the Canadiens in Montreal. Montreal raced out to a 6-0 first-period lead before the Flyers' Reggie Leach scored to break the shutout. Center Keith Acton posted a hat trick for the Canadiens.

ALSO ON THIS DATE:
- The Flyers own an all-time record of 11-7-1-0
- Born on 'This Date' are Flyers Alumni: Corey Foster (1991-92) and Mike Ricci (1990-92)
