On this date in 2002, the Flyers opened their game against the Islanders in New York with two goals in the first 31 seconds of the game to set a new team record for fastest two goals from the start of a game. Forwards Justin Williams (0:16) and Michal Handzus (0:31) each scored a goal to give the Flyers a 2-0 lead.
The two goals in 31 seconds became the third fastest two goals scored from the start of a game by one team in NHL history. The Flyers won the game, 6-2.
