By This Date in Flyers History
Jeff Hackett played for the Flyers during the 2003-04 season.
On October 16, 2003 Flyers goaltender Jeff Hackett stopped all 27 shots he faced as the Flyers and San Jose Sharks skated to 0-0 tie at the HP Pavilion in San Jose.

A couple feats were accomplished in this one game.

The first being that the scoreless tie was the first for the Flyers in a road game in over 20 years (since December 4, 1982 - 0-0  at Pittsburgh).

The second was a mark that put Hackett in the Flyers history books.

It was his second consecutive shutout after he blanked the Buffalo Sabers on October 9 in a 2-0 win, making him the first goaltender in Flyers history to record a shutout in each of his first two career starts as a Flyer.

It was the second time in franchise history that a goaltender had opened a season with two consecutive shutouts - Bernie Parent having accomplished that feat when he opened the 1973-74 season with a 2-0 win vs. Toronto on October 11 and a 6-0 win at New York Islanders on October 13.

ALSO ON THIS DATE:
- The Flyers own an all-time record of 10-7-3-0.

- In 1998, John LeClair scored three consecutive goals in the Flyers' 5-2 win against the Tampa Bay Lightning at the Ice Palace. LeClair scored goals at 0:44 and 4:08 of the second period and at 12:54 of the third period.

This was LeClair's second natural hat trick as a Flyer, becoming just the second player in team history to record multiple regular season natural hat tricks while with the Flyers.

- Born on 'This Date' are Flyers Alumni Thomas Eriksson (1980-82, 83-86).
