On this date in 1999, left wing Simon Gagne scored his first career NHL goal in the Flyers' 5-4 loss against the Capitals in Washington. Gagne scored the first two Flyers goals of the game.
Gagne would end the season with 20 goals and 28 assists in 80 regular season games. He would finish second among NHL rookies in goals for the 1999-2000 season and would be named to the NHL All-Rookie Team.
