On this date in 1984, the Flyers traded center Darryl Sittler to the Detroit Red Wings in exchange for Murray Craven and Joe Paterson.

Sittler had appeared in two and a half seasons with the Flyers from 1981-82 to 1983-84 where he amassed 84 goals and 94 assists for 178 points in 191 games.

He would play only one more season in the NHL after leaving the Flyers, recording 27 points (11G-16A) in 61 regular season games with the Red Wings.

Craven would play eight seasons for the Flyers, from 1984-85 to 1991-92, recording 424 points (152G,272A) in 523 games.

He is best known for recording the dramatic game-winning goal in overtime during the 1988 Stanley Cup Playoffs vs. Washington.

His 424 points as a Flyer rank 16th most in Flyers history.

- The Flyers own an all-time record of 8-5-1-1.

- Bernie Parent stopped all 18 shots to post a 1-0 shutout win over the Los Angeles Kings. Parent owns the Flyers all-time record in shutouts with 50. The next closest is 20 shutouts by Roman Cechmanek.

- Happy Birthdays go out to Flyers Alumni Ron Flockhart (1980-83) and Alexei Zhitnik (2006-07).
