On this date in 1992, the Flyers and Penguins skated to a 3-3 tie in Pittsburgh to open the 1992-93 regular season.
The Flyers trailed 3-1 entering the final period. Mario Lemieux, Kevin Stevens and Rick Tocchet had each scored a goal for the Penguins to give the Penguins the lead. Left wing Brent Fedyk scored a first-period goal for the Flyers.
Goals by Eric Lindros (0:31) and Doug Evans (1:19) tied the score at 3-3.
Flyers goaltender Dominic Roussel was named First Star after stopping 42 of 45 shots faced. The Flyers were outshot in the game, 45 to 29.
