The Philadelphia Flyers announced that they have traded defenseman Danny Markov (MAHR–kahf) to the Nashville Predators in exchange for a third round pick in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft, according to club General Manager Bob Clarke.

Markov, 28, recorded five goals and seven assists for 12 points and 16 penalty minutes in 26 regular season games for Vityaz Chekhov of the Russia-2 League. During the 2003-04 season, Markov registered six goals and 13 assists for 19 points and 95 penalty minutes in 78 games for the Flyers and the Carolina Hurricanes. He posted five points (2G,3A) and 58 penalty minutes in 34 regular season games for the Flyers after being acquired from Carolina in exchange for Justin Williams on January 20, 2004.

In 414 career regular season NHL games over seven seasons (1997-98 through 2003-04) with the Toronto Maple Leafs, the Phoenix Coyotes, Carolina and the Flyers, Markov has registered 25 goals and 95 assists for 120 points and 335 penalty minutes.

A native of Moscow, Russia, Markov was originally drafted from Spartak Moscow by Toronto in the ninth round (223rd overall) of the 1995 NHL Entry Draft.
