Bill Barber is one of two players drafted by the Flyers to be inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame.

On this date in 1972, the Flyers selected nine players in the 1972 NHL Amateur Draft. Each of their first four picks would be members of at least one of the franchise's two Stanley Cup Championship teams.

In the first round (seventh overall), the Flyers selected left wing Bill Barber. At the conclusion of his 12-year career with the Flyers (1972-73 through 1983-84), Barber retired as the Flyers' all-time leader in goals with 420. He is second on the team's all-time list in points with 883 (420G,463A). He was inducted into the Flyers Hall of Fame in 1989 and the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1990. His jersey, No. 7, was retired by the Flyers.

In Rounds Two through Four, the Flyers drafted defenseman Tom Bladon (second round, 23rd overall), defenseman Jimmy Watson (third round, 39th overall) and left wing Al MacAdam (fourth round, 55th overall).

Barber, Bladon and Watson were members of both of the Flyers' Stanley Cup Championship teams (1973-74 and 1974-75).
