May 27, 1975...Flyers Win Stanley Cup, Again

Bernie Parent won the Conn Smythe Trophy, Stanley Cup and Vezina Trophy for the 1974-75 season.

On this date in 1975, the Flyers defeated the Sabres in Buffalo, 2-0, in Game Six of the Stanley Cup Finals. With the win, the Flyers won the series, four games to two, and captured their second consecutive Stanley Cup Championship.

After two periods of scoreless play, the Flyers got on the scoreboard first with a goal by Bob Kelly just 11 seconds into the third period. Bill Clement scored the Flyers' second goal of the game at 17:13.

Flyers goaltender Bernie Parent stopped all 32 Sabres shots to
record the shutout.

Parent was awarded the Conn Smythe Trophy as playoff MVP after registering a 10-5 record, 1.89 GAA and four shutouts in 15 games. He became the first player in NHL history to win the Conn Smythe Trophy in consecutive seasons.

The Flyers became only the second U.S.-based team to win consecutive Stanley Cup Championships, joining the Detroit Red Wings who had achieved the feat twice (winning in 1935-36 and 1936-37 and again in 1953-54 and 1954-55).
