May 26, 2000...New Jersey Defeats Flyers, 2-1
On this date in 2000, the Flyers lost to the New Jersey Devils in the First Union Center, 2-1, in Game Seven of the Eastern Conference Finals. With the win, the Devils advanced to the Stanley Cup Finals.The Devils' Patrik Elias opened the scoring in the game with a power play goal at 6:44 of the first period.
With Colin White in the penalty minutes serving a two-minute minor penalty for holding, right wing Rick Tocchet scored a power play goal to tie the score at 1-1.
Elias scored his second goal of the game with about two and a half minutes to play in the third period (17:28) to give the Devils a 2-1 lead. The Flyers could not score on Devils goaltender Martin Brodeur over the final two minutes and lost the game, 2-1, and the series, four games to three.
