May 9, 1974...Flyers Defeat Boston, 3-2 in overtime
On this date in 1974, the Flyers defeated the Bruins in Boston, 3-2 in overtime, in Game Two of the Stanley Cup Finals.
The Bruins led 2-0 after the first period of play on goals by Wayne Cashman and Phil Esposito.
Bobby Clarke got the Flyers on the scoreboard with a goal at 1:08 of the second period to cut the Bruins lead to one goal, 2-1.
After Clarke's goal, the Bruins would hold the Flyers scoreless for the next 38 minutes of play, before Flyers defenseman Andre Dupont would score a goal at 19:08 of the third period to tie the score at 2-2.
Clarke would score at 12:01 of the first overtime period to win the game for the Flyers. The 3-2 victory evened the Finals at one game each and was the Flyers first win in Boston since November 12, 1967 (0-16-2).
