April 27, 1989...Flyers Defeat Pittsburgh, 6-2

On this date in 1989, the Flyers defeated the Pittsburgh Penguins at the Spectrum, 6-2, in Game Six of the Patrick Division Finals.

The Flyers opened the scoring in the game with two first-period goals by Tim Kerr.

Pittsburgh would cut the Flyers' lead to one goal twice in the second period, 2-1 at 2:18 and 3-2 at 5:24, but the Flyers would score the final three goals of the game to make the final score 6-2.

In addition to Kerr, Derrick Smith (2), Ron Sutter and Brian Propp would each score at least a goal for the Flyers.

The Flyers' win evened the series at three games apiece.
