Philadelphia Flyers

On this date in 1973, the Flyers defeated the Minnesota North Stars at the Spectrum, 4-1, in Game Two of their Quarterfinal series. The win tied the series at one game each.
Don Saleski opened the scoring with a goal at 5:48 of the first period. The Flyers then scored three second-period goals to give them a 4-0 lead heading into the third period of
Barry Ashbee play. Bill Flett, Bill Barber and Terry Crisp each scored a
goal for the Flyers during the second period. Defenseman
Barry Ashbee was credited with an assist on each of the three second-period Flyers goals.
Ashbee's three assists in the second period established a new team record for most assists in one period of a playoff game and tied the NHL record for most assists in a period of a playoff game.
Ashbee is still tied for the NHL record. It has happened 74 times in NHL history, including six times by a member of the Flyers.
