On this date in 1976, the Flyers defeated the Buffalo Sabres at the Spectrum, 5-2.
The Flyers jumped out to a 3-0 second-period lead on goals by Larry Goodenough, Reggie Leach and Bill Barber. The Sabres then responded by scoring two goals to cut the lead to one goal, 3-2, as the teams entered the third period of play.
Third-period goals by Mel Bridgman and Bob Kelly secured the Flyers' victory.
Barber's goal at 4:30 of the second period was his 50th of the season. He became the third player in Flyers history to reach the 50-goal mark, joining Rick
had scored his 61st goal of the season in the game).
