Gary Dornhoefer and Andre Lacroix each scored a goal for the Flyers. Goaltender Doug Favell stopped all 29 St. Louis shots faced to record the win.
The win completed a home-and-home series with the Blues. The Blues had defeated the Flyers in St. Louis, 3-0, the previous night (March 27).
These two games are the only time in Flyers history that the Flyers have faced the same team on consecutive nights with each team winning a game by posting a shutout.
