On this date in 1974, the Flyers defeated the Blues in St. Louis, 6-2.Ross Lonsberry, Dave Schultz, Gary Dornhoefer, Bill Barber, Rick MacLeish and Orest Kindrachuk each scored a goal for the Flyers. Lonsberry, Dornhoefer and MacLeish each posted three points in the game (1G,2A).
Goaltender Bernie Parent stopped 29 of 31 shots faced to record the win. The win was his 44th of the season, tying the NHL record for most wins in a season. Detroit's Terry Sawchuk won 44 games during both the 1950-51 and 1951-52 seasons.
Parent would finish the 1973-74 season with an NHL record 47 wins.
