March 19, 1981...Clarke Reaches NHL Milestone
On this date in 1981, the Flyers defeated the Boston Bruins at the Spectrum, 5-3.In the game, Bobby Clarke scored a goal at 0:31 of the third period to give the Flyers a 5-0 lead. The goal was his 19th of the season and his 1,000 career NHL point. He was the 15th player in NHL history to reach the milestone.
Clarke finished his 15-year NHL career with 358 goals and 852 assists for 1,210 points and 1,453 penalty minutes in 1,144 regular season games. He is first on the Flyers All-Time List in assists, points and games played.
The Flyers' Tim Kerr was named First Star of the Game after posting his first career NHL hat trick.
