With the win, the Flyers had a 40-13-12 for 92 points and clinched a playoff spot for the fifth straight season and for the eighth time in 10 seasons.
With his appearance in the game, left wing Bob Kelly had played in his 500th NHL game. He finished his Flyers career with 741 games played, which is tied for fifth place on the Flyers All-Time List.
