Flyers draft European-born players in late rounds to complete 2014 Draft Class

After taking defensemen with two of their first three picks, the Flyers shifted focus on their next two, going with a Swedish-born winger and Russian center, who like First Round pick Travis Sanheim, played for the Calgary Hitmen in the Western Hockey League.

They ended the 2014 Draft Class by taking their third defenseman, who also hails from Sweden. Below is a brief bio of each Flyers prospect...

5th Round (138th overall)

Oskar Lindblom, LW, Brynas Jr. (Sweden)

6-0, 185 lbs

Born August 15, 1996 in Gävle, Sweden (age 17)

Ranked 23rd among European skaters by NHL Central Scouting… posted 33 points (13G, 20A) in 43 games for the Brynas second division team in 2013-14 before going on to score six goals and add an assist in seven playoff games… also appeared in four games for Brynas in the Swedish Hockey League.

6th Round (168th overall)

Radel Fazleev, C, Calgary (WHL)

5-11, 174 lbs

Born January 7, 1996 in Kazan, Russia (age 18)

Posted 25 points (5G, 20A) in 38 games as a rookie with Calgary, playing with Flyers first-round pick Travis Sanheim… also contributed seven points (3G, 4A) in six playoff games… represented Russia at the Under-18 World Junior Championships.

7th Round (198th overall)

Jesper Pettersson, D, Linkoping (Sweden)

5-8, 180 lbs

Born July 16, 1994 in Stockholm, Sweden (age 19)

Has played the last two seasons in the Swedish Hockey League with Linkoping, appearing in a total of 62 games… represented Sweden at the 2014 World Junior Championships, winning a silver medal.
