With 4:43 left in the second period, forward Brayden Schenn was hit in the boards, going head first into the Flyers corner, by Capitals right wing Tom Wilson.
Flyers GM Paul Holmgren announced that Schenn will not return to the game after suffering an upper-body injury.
Wilson was assessed a five-minute major for charging, five for fighting and a game misconduct.
Schenn appeared in 12 shifts and a total of 10:42 of ice-time through the first two periods. Prior to tonight's game, he ranked second on the team in scoring with 18 points (7g-11a) on the year.
He is one of 10 players to have appeared in all 33 games so far this season.
