1. A TALE OF TWO TEAMS
The Flyers come into tonight after dropping their first game in regulation in the last eight games, going 6-1-1, and first road game in regulation since a 5-2 loss at Detroit on Oct. 12, going 4-1-2 in their last seven road games… The Lightning come in just about the opposite - They halted their four-game winless streak with a 5-0 win over the NY Rangers on Monday after going 0-3-1 in a four-game road trip… They are currently on a six-game home-winning streak dating back to Oct. 24 with their last loss coming on Oct. 19 vs. Boston… On the six-game home winning streak, the Lightning have out-scored the opposition 28-12, while scoring at least four goals in five of the six wins.
2. VINNY'S RETURN
Tonight marks the first time Vinny Lecavalier returns to face his former team of 14 seasons, one of which included a Stanley Cup Championship (2004)… Lecavalier was a first overall pick by the Lightning in the 1998 NHL Entry Draft and is still Tampa Bay's all-time leader for games played (1,037), goals (383) and power play goals (112)… Lecavalier won the Maurice "Rocket" Richard Trophy as the league's leading goal-scorer (52 in 2006-07) and the King Clancy Memorial Trophy (community service) and the NHL Foundation Player Award in 2008.
3. THIS, THAT & THE OTHER
This is the first of three meetings against the Lightning and first of two in Tampa, where the Flyers have not had success as of late - they have dropped each of their last four games, going 0-3-1 in the last two seasons… Overall, the Flyers have a 22-18-1-1 mark in Tampa and a 42-29-8-3 record against the Lightning… The Lightning are without star forward Steven Stamkos who broke his right tibia in Boston on Nov. 11 - there is no timetable for his return… The Flyers have gone seven consecutive games with at least one power-play-goal, going 8-for-26 (30.8%) in that span, while the Lightning have gone the last three games without giving up a goal on the penalty kill, going 11-for-11.
4. Player to watch FLYERS: Claude Giroux - (C) #28
Giroux comes into tonight's game with a five-game point streak, posting two goals and four assists for six points in that stretch… He also has posted at least a point in eight of his last 10 games for 10 points (3g-7a)… Giroux leads the Flyers in scoring for 16 total points (3g-13a) while also leading the offense in time-on-ice per game (21:46 - which is 2nd overall on the team)… Against the Lightning, Giroux has 11 assists and 14 points in 17 career games.
5. Player to watch LIGHTNING: Martin St. Louis - (RW) #26
St. Louis leads the Lightning in points (24) and assists (14) this season and has eight multi-point games so far… St. Louis is coming off a three-point game, posting two goals and an assist… He has points in four of his last six games, recording seven points (3g-4a) in that stretch… St. Louis just eclipsed the 1,000 NHL game played on Nov. 19 - he has 936 career points with 350 goals and 586 assists in 1,003 regular season games… Against the Flyers, St. Louis averages an assist per-game in his career with 43 helpers, and 57 total points in 43 regular season games.
