Tonight is the 46th season opening game for the Flyers, who own a 21-17-7 record in season opening games… They have won three of the last four season opening games with their only loss coming last year vs. Penguins… It is also the 29th time they have opened the season on home ice, they are 15-10-3 in that circumstance… The Flyers have lost the last three times they have opened the season at home… Tonight is also the 11th time the Flyers have opened the season against a Canadian team, they own a 6-2-2 record when doing so - the last time coming in 2007-08 with a 3-2 win at Calgary.

Tonight is the fourth season-opening game for Giroux, who has recorded a goal in each of the last three season opening games… He posted two points (1g-1a) in two preseason games this year… Giroux has led the Flyers in regular season scoring in each of the last three seasons, averaging at least a point per-game in each of those seasons… Against the Leafs, Giroux has 16 points (5g-11a) in 17 career games, including three points (all assists) in three games last season.
5. Player to watch MAPLE LEAFS: James van Riemsdyk - (LW) #21
The former Flyer posted the Leafs first goal of the season in last night's 4-3 win at Montreal… He appeared in five preseason games, where he recorded four points (2g-2a) with six penalty minutes and 11 shots on goal… In his three games since being traded to Toronto, van Riemsdyk has two goals against the Flyers.
