UPDATED: MAY 13
The fans have spoken and The Wayne Train keeps on going! Wayne Simmonds has advanced to the next round of EA's NHL 14 Cover vote by defeating the reigning NHL MVP, Penguins forward Evgeni Malkin in the Sweet 16 round of voting.
Simmonds next task, or rather YOU - Flyers fans next task, will be to take on the New York Islanders forward John Tavares in this next round of voting.
Simmonds has now cleared three rounds to make it to the Final 8 of players. He won the battle against teammate, Jakub Voracek, then made the cut from 32 players that narrowed to 16, then took down Malkin in the first "bracket-style" voting this past week.
Fans can keep voting for Simmonds RIGHT HERE! Voting is unlimited and ends on Sunday, May 19 at 11:59 p.m.
Here's a look at the Final 8 bracket...

In a head-to-head battle to see who would represent the Flyers the month-long contest to succeed Claude Giroux, Simmonds took the prize over Voracek in the fan vote and will be on the ballot among the NHL's elite this season.
Following the round in which each team chooses their representative, the field of 32 players (including two Wild Card entrants) was voted upon and widdled down to the final 16 players to be placed in brackets.
Voracek will no doubt be voting for his teammate starting today.
That's because Wayne Simmonds has officially made the cut and will go against Pittsburgh Penguins star Evgeni Malkin in this round of the fan vote.
Malkin, if you remember from last season, went head-to-head against Scott Hartnell, who won the NHL's wild card to make it to the Round of 32 and eventually all the way down to the Final 8.
Malkin defeated Hartnell and advanced to the Semifinal, but his run ended when he faced Giroux, who eventually went on to grace the NHL 13 cover.
Back to present day and Simmonds' bid to advance. Fans can follow the updates all summer long, but MORE IMPORTANTLY, can cast their vote for Wayne right below…
