The Toronto Maple Leafs, currently in their first playoff run since 2004, will face off against the Philadelphia Flyers in a preseason game at Budweiser Gardens on Sunday, September 15 at 6:00pm, presented by Scotiabank. Tickets will go on sale on Saturday, May 4 at 10 a.m.
Last season the Leafs and Flyers were set to meet in London on September 26, however the game was postponed. Tickets from the 2012 game will be honored for the upcoming September date. The Flyers, who consider Budweiser Gardens their "home away from home," will be making their ninth preseason appearance in London. The Flyers and Maple Leafs have met in preseason action at Budweiser Gardens twice before with the Maple Leafs earning the victory both times.
This game will also be the ninth presented by Scotiabank who have incorporated a community charitable component each year. "We are thrilled to once again be working with Scotiabank in presenting the Toronto Maple Leafs and host Flyers at Budweiser Gardens,” said Global Spectrum Facility Management's Brian Ohl, Regional Vice President and General Manager of Budweiser Gardens. “Scotiabank has always enhanced the event for our fans and always make the event very special for our community.”
Through its sponsorship of the preseason game at Budweiser Gardens, Scotiabank continues to demonstrate its commitment to supporting hockey at the professional levels. In addition to its sponsorship of this game in London, Scotiabank supports local hockey through the Scotiabank Community Hockey Sponsorship Program, which reaches more than 4,500 minor teams across Canada.
“Scotiabank has a long tradition of supporting local and professional teams and leagues across Canada and we’re thrilled to bring professional hockey to London again this year,” said Patrick Noonan, Director Commercial Banking, London and Region, Scotiabank. “We’re excited to be part of what is sure to be a fantastic game showcasing tremendous hockey talent. We’re looking forward to seeing hockey fans in London come take in the action.”
Details regarding charitable benefactors for 2013 NHL Preseason game and other festivities such as the annual NHL Block Party will be announced later this summer.
“All Londoners are excited to hear that the Leafs and Flyers are coming back in September to the Budweiser Gardens,” said Mayor Fontana. “This is the perfect place to ramp up for the regular season; we’ve got great fans, a great facility and great energy downtown. It’s always exciting to see what hockey’s best can put on the ice at Budweiser Gardens.” Global Spectrum Facility Management, operators of Budweiser Gardens, and the Philadelphia Flyers are both subsidiaries of Comcast-Spectacor.
