On this date in 1977, the Flyers defeated the Cleveland Barons at the Spectrum, 7-2. Six different players scored at least a goal for the Flyers, including Bobby Clarke, who posted two goals, Reggie Leach (1G,2A) and Orest Kindrachuk (3A) each registered three points in the contest.

The win was the Flyers' fourth win against the Barons in six career games. The Flyers lost their first meeting against the Barons (6-4 at Cleveland on November 5, 1976) and were undefeated over their next nine games against Cleveland (7-0-2), outscoring the Barons, 52 to 18, over the nine games. The Flyers compiled a 7-1-2 record over two seasons (1976-77 and 1977-78), before the Barons merged with the Minnesota North Stars prior to the 1978-79 season.
