Harry Z traded for Rosehill
The Flyers made a small trade Monday sending forward Harry Zolnierczyk to the Anaheim Ducks in exchange for tough guy Jay Rosehill.
Rosehill, 27, has spent the entire season with the Norfolk Admirals of the American Hockey League and has split time between defense and left wing.
Originally a seventh round pick of the Tampa Bay Lightning in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft (No. 227 overall) Rosehill has played 72 games in the NHL over parts of three seasons with the Toronto Maple Leafs.
In those games he has two goals and three assists for five points and 198 penalty minutes.
Rosehill is best known for his fight card, as he has 18 fights in those 72 NHL games. He has 94 fights over parts of eight seasons in the AHL.
Zolnierczyk, 25, leaves the Flyers after playing in 44 NHL games over parts of two seasons. Zolnierczyk finishes with three goals and four assists for seven points as a Flyer.
He was originally signed as an undrafted free agent out of Brown University in 2011.
The trade saves the Flyers about $50,000 on the cap. Zolnierczyk's salary was a $600,000 cap hit. Rosehill has a two-way contract with a cap hit of $550,000. He will join the Flyers NHL roster. He is an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season.
